II. Content
This part of the book contains a description of the destruction of the two Benedictine mission stations at Nyangao (228-30) and Lukuledi (230-3) in Lindi district. It is not an eyewitness account. However, Brother Meinrad's report on his adventures is quoted extensively, referring mainly to the destruction of Lukuledi (231-3). At the end of the article, Wehrmeister tries to defend the Catholic converts of the region against allegations of having taken part in the uprising.
III. Further Remarks
Cyrillus Wehrmeister was a Benedictine friar from St. Ottilien monastery who worked as a missionary in German East Africa in 1905. Although not an eyewitness of the events, he had access to information provided by members of his mission. The book also contains a number of interesting photographs.
