II. Content
The report describes the victory of a naval detachment under Jastrzemski and Paasche against the rebels on 7 August 1905. It is reported that rebels threatened the telegraph line near Samanga. Another naval detachment lands. At the same time, Major Johannes is on the way. The warship S. M. S. "Bussard" received provisions and African sailors to replace the fighting mariners on board. In addition, there is news from von Götzen that the rebels were fleeing and the whole affair was about to end. He declares that the Arabs and most another native people were against the rebels from the mountains and that only one Askari was wounded. He assumes that the rising was caused by religious practices and abundant beer-drinking.
III. Further Remarks
The report is based on an official report from Governor von Götzen and a detailed article in the "Neue militärisch-politische Korrespondenz" about the task of the warship S. M. S. "Bussard". It seems that von Götzen is trying to convey to his German readers that the uprising was not a serious event, despite the difficult supply situation of the German military forces.
