In the official publication of 31 July 1908, Governor von Rechenberg declares the state of emergency from 11 April 1908 in the area around Songea to be lifted.

The text of the official proclamation was issued by the "Kaiserl. Gouvernement von Deutsch-Ostafrika" and published as a supplement in the local press in German East Africa.
The abolition of the state of war coincided with the opening of the region.
Von Rechenberg followed von Götzen as Governor of German East Africa and occupied the post from 1906 until 1912. For other publications see annotations 41 and 43.
