This short article concerns the trial of 11 Indians accused of smuggling gunpowder and of treason in the court of Kilwa. The accused men were sentenced to different terms of imprisonment. It is stated that the sentences seem to be negligible compared to the severity of the offence. With regard to this issue, the author cites an unnamed source as reporting that the Governor intended not to uphold the sentences.
