II. Content Superintendent Schuhmann and missionary Gröschel describe the events that took place at the Jacobi mission in September 1906. They write about attacks on the mission by some of the rebellious "chiefs". In the end, Gröschel and other members of the mission station were forced to leave Jacobi because of food and ammunition shortages. Accompanied by Schuhmann, the missionaries escape to Lupembe. Gröschel maintains that the rebellion was fuelled if not caused by the local population's unfulfilled demands for European consumer goods.
III. Further Remarks The report is divided into three parts. The first is written by Superintendent Schuhmann, the second by the missionary Gröschel, while the final part contains additional notes by a third unnamed person. The "Gesellschaft zur Beförderung der evangelischen Missionen unter den Heiden zu Berlin" was founded in 1824 and renamed "Berliner Missionsgesellschaft" in 1907.
